Tunics and legwear

By far the simplest way to look medieval/fantasy is to don the timeless t-tunic. Similar to the pattern of the classic cotton t-shirt, a basic t-tunic may be easily tailored and should fall at or below the knee. One reason for this is to conceal modern pants or trousers, while offering freedom of movement over longer gown-type tunics.

While most event heralds will have no issue with a simple tunic over earth-tone pants, it's a nice idea to consider an attempt at period legwear. Many individuals will reuse wrap pants, milsurp clothing, or scrub pants as a base layer and add layers to achieve an overall aesthetic. A viking persona may wear long strips of fabric, called winingas, over trousers, while a roman may go bare-legged. An undead minion may sport tattered and torn trousers in a layered effect, while orcs are fond of painting their bodies green. Remember to be creative and enjoy discovering cool ways to dress in garb.
