Damage

Black - Siege weapons deal what is called Black Damage. This type of damage is lethal to all players in one hit, no matter where it hits them, even if it only touches their weapon or shield. This is to simulate the power and lethality of a siege weapon's projectile, like a ballista or trebuchet.

Super - Weapon damage from super can be blocked, but instantly kills a player if the weapon touches them. This is much like a firepot, or poisoned arrow. Additionally, sometimes a special weapon on the field can be imbued with this damage in order to give someone heroic abilities. A Super Red weapon instantly breaks a shield and kills a player, but can be blocked with a weapon. All other melee super damage types can be blocked with weapon or shield. This is also sometimes referred to as "poison damage" in many realms around Dagorhir.

Double - The least damaging type of siege, this type simply does double the damage to a target, much like it a player were to be hit by this weapon twice. A double red weapon breaks a shield instantly, and kills a player instantly if it strikes their body, dealing a red hit to a limb, and then another red hit to the body. A double blue will go through armor to kill the limb or body, but can be blocked by a shield. An unarmored opponent will die to double blue. A player would never die to double green unless it strikes their body. A double white and double yellow weapon will go through a helmet.

Weapon Types

Siege weapons come in a variety of forms, depending on the field and safety.

Player - A player acts like a Ballista shot or some other highly damaging projectile, running in a straight line calling out "Black!" whenever the player strikes another. This is sometimes used to simulate monsters such as Nazgul or Ogres that swing weapons that cannot be blocked, only dodged.

Set Weapon - Likely the most exciting, the weapon is crafted like a real world counterpart. An actual, though small, version of a siege weapon is set up, and marked off. No fighting is allowed near the siege weapon, and siege crew are unarmed. If any enemy player enters the area marked off, the siege crew are killed. Ammunition shot out of the weapon is usually a large, oversized open cell foam ball, or a javelin. Rarely, arrows are also shot.

Simulated - Weapons not represented in real life, more roleplayed, such as oil over a castle gate. A Herald will call out that the weapon has been deployed and everyone in an immediate area is killed instantly by the black damage.
